Little Chart

Ruins of Church of St Mary’s Little Chart

St. Mary's church lies about 3/4 of a mile west of the village of Little Chart and was built between 1200 and 1500. On 16th August 1944 a German V1 flying bomb, or 'Doodlebug' cut out on its course to London and crashed into the church reducing it to a ruin. Fortunately no one lost their lives in the incident.

In the ‘fifties a new church was built in the village, to replace the old Little Chart Church.
